Wow – what a year! We’ve been super busy helping clients this year, with the weather turning cold, and with a few more surveys hopefully to squeeze in (weather permitting) before the year end it’ll be great to finally wind down over the festive break. It’s been great to help all sorts of clients since the start of this year, with all types of thermal issues, from leaky loft conversions to heating system re-scoping for complete property refurbishments. A new area for use in Home Purchase thermal surveys, with home buyers realising how important it is to understand how well homes perform thermally before committing to buy from a seller. To often this is left to high-level assessment performed by housing and ECP surveyors, that really don’t provide the confidence that a full home thermal imaging survey can.
The issues of our thermally inefficient housing stock are really coming into the fore with COP28 really putting the pressure on the UK government to help homeowners not only improve their home insulation, but also move to greener more sustainable heating solutions. Even now there is significant work to be done to build up trust in the new homes the UK is constructing (BBC News). The confidence simply isn’t there that these new builds are constructed correctly or will stand the test of time. We’ve done a fair number of surveys of new build properties and can vouch for this, with all manner of sins hidden behind plasterboard and freshly tiled bathrooms. Still, we will carry on doing what we can to help empower homeowners to identify and fix their building thermal issues.
In the meantime, we would like to take the opportunity to wish all our past and exisiting clients, a restful, relaxing and a (hopefully) warm Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
