Sometimes thermal imaging just isn’t enough! For this client in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, we provided some additional insight into their building thermal performance, by using a borescope to see into the cavity wall. By drilling a discreet hole in the mortar, we can then insert a borescope to take detailed images of the cavity interior. In this case, it was clear that mineral wool battens had been used in the build. This type of investigation helps us to build up a portfolio of evidence, alongside traditional thermal imaging of buildings, providing a complete understanding of the buidling thermal behaviour. Of course, we also carefully fill the hole again with mortar afterwards.
